The Global Optometry Resources are open educational resources that aim to facilitate the implementation, delivery and advancement of optometric education in the developing context.
Designed primarily for students and lecturers of emerging optometry schools, it offers downloadable teaching and learning materials that are relevant and suitable for all other groups of eye care personnel.
To ensure quality control, the chapters (PDF notes and PowerPoints) have been secured to disallow any modifications to them (select “Read Only” to open the PowerPoint files).
The resources are available below in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, French and Portuguese.
Please note: the Global Optometry Resources is not a formal course offering. There are no assignments, exams or certification available with the Resources – these are provided by universities and colleges using the resources. For an individual user, the resources are intended as a reference only, rather than as a full course.

1. Years 1 and 2 of optometry curricula generally include locally prescribed courses and relevant prerequisites such as chemistry, biology, mathematics, etc. The overall structure of the curriculum will vary depending on the relative amounts of these as warranted by local academic structures and regulations. These courses are run by the local institution and as such do not form part of the Global Optometry Resources.

Our technology team has adapted handheld tablet computers to function as electronic vision charts to retain the previously mentioned advantages when testing intermediate and near distances.

Diseñado principalmente para estudiantes y profesionales de escuelas de optometría, ofrece material educativo y de aprendizaje descargable que es relevante para todo el personal del cuidado ocular.

Bienvenue sur le site des Ressources Globales en Optométrie de BHVI Education, une suite d’outils éducatifs en libre accès sur laquelle on trouve les cours constituant la majeure partie des unités de base d’un programme universitaire en optométrie.
Conçu principalement pour les étudiants et professeurs des écoles d’optométrie émergentes, ce matériel pédagogique téléchargeable est aussi pertinent et approprié pour les divers professionnels de la santé ophtalmique.
L’initiative vise à fournir des ressources éducatives de qualité qui faciliteront la mise en œuvre, l’avancement et la prestation de l’éducation en optométrie à travers le monde, en particulier dans les milieux défavorisés.
